The History of Winemaking in the Channel Islands with Geoff Rusack
Pour a glass of wine and join the UCSB Library for a presentation on the history of winemaking in the Santa Cruz and Catalina Islands, as well as a review of the viticultural tie-in between the two islands. This lecture will be presented by Geoff Rusack, owner of RUSACK Vineyards and CEO of the Santa Catalina Island Company.

Geoff Rusack
While born in Montana in 1956, Geoff Rusack’s family moved to California when he was two. Growing up in Southern California, Mr. Rusack enjoyed surfing, skiing, SCUBA diving & sailing. He went on to Bowdoin College, followed by Pepperdine Law School. Early in his professional life, Mr. Rusack practiced law in Los Angeles in the fields of medical and legal malpractice and aviation. Now, in addition to owning RUSACK Vineyards with his wife, Alison, Mr. Rusack has served as the Chairman of the Board of the Santa Catalina Island Conservancy, which owns approximately 88% of Catalina Island. He is also the president and CEO of the Santa Catalina Island Company, which owns another 10% of the island, and is engaged in hospitality, tour/activities, mooring administration, and numerous other operations.
